What’s the Difference Between Flat Die Pellet Machine and Ring Die Pellet Machine?

Summary:

Biomass pellet making machine is classified into two parts; flat die and ring die pellet machine. Both of these are a great alternative to gas and petroleum products. But they have significant differences as well that you need to understand while choosing a pellet machine.

Body:

As we all know, energy shortage and environmental threats are major concerns. Thereby, biomass pellets could be the best replacement for harmful components as they are almost produced from agricultural products. Understanding which type of pellet machine works great for you is the first crucial step.

Due to the constant focus on economic development, energy, and the environment has become a serious factor. The excessive consumption of coal is decreasing, furthermore, during the mining, it may cause environmental damage such as land subsidence. That’s why it is ideal to use a biomass pellet machine that utilizes pelletizing technology and turns the raw material into a wood pellet to solve the energy issues.

Overview of Ring Die Pellet Mill

Working principle

Biomass material will be transferred in the press chamber through an automatic spiral feeder and spread uniformly between ring die and rollers. The ring die rotates with an electrical machine and rollers are installed on the inner side. As a result, the rollers keep pressing the biomass materials through the holes.

Key Features

·         Force feeding system – It has a much larger production capacity than a flat die pellet mill. Manual feeding isn’t appropriate for large-scale pellet production. It mainly adopts a spiral conveyor to feed raw materials into the press chamber.

·         Superior electrical machine – The formation of a biomass pellet is difficult than a feed pellet. It has a faster rotary speed than a flat die pellet mill but can be controlled as per the requirements.

·         High-quality Forging Parts – All parts are made of the best quality forgings, which extends the life span of the ring die pellet machine.

Performance

It is a fully automatic pellet machine with a larger capacity than a flat die pellet mill. Therefore, the ring die pellet mill has been appreciated by global wood pellet plants. The capacity of a wood pellet plant can reach 20 ton/h when connected to a ring die pellet mill.

Overview of Flat Die Pellet Mill

Working Principle

The biomass materials are transferred into the feed chamber manually and spread uniformly with material distribution and scraper. The rollers keep pressing biomass material consistently and finally, a useful product will be produced.

Key Features

·         Feeding method – It adopts a manual feeding system, the biomass material will be shifted into the feed chamber and then spread evenly on the flat die.

·         Placement of pellet die – The flat die is fixed on the engine base. It is extruded out of a stationary flat die which improves the pellet forming ratio.

·         Rollers – It has a low rotate speed. Both inner and outer sides of rollers will slip during the extruding period to improve overall efficiency.

Performance

Pellet forming ratio is over 90 percent by using raw materials like sawdust, wood shavings, and more. The capacity lies between 250 to 800kg/h.

Conclusion:

As the raw materials used to produce biomass pellets have huge varieties and complex features, there is a huge demand for pellet production equipment. The machine should be well-optimized for general use, anti-abrasive, productive, and perform steadily.

Both ring and flat die pellet mill have their advantages. Choose wisely depending on your requirements and enjoy maximum convenience and benefits.
